Frequently Asked Questions
Which joints are most commonly treated with regenerative techniques?
The knee, shoulder, and elbow are the ones we treat most, especially when the injury is in a tendon or ligament.
How does this approach differ from a standard steroid injection?
Steroids ease inflammation, though the relief is temporary. Regenerative techniques target something different. They’re meant to support the body’s own repair process at the site of injury rather than mask symptoms.
What should I do to prepare before my appointment?
If our team has instructed you to stop anti-inflammatory medications, do so a few days before your visit. It also helps to mention any blood thinners you’re on, since that factors into how the procedure is planned.
How many treatment sessions do most patients need?
There’s no fixed number. It depends on the specific injury, and Dr. Jafri will map out a plan for you once he’s done an in-person evaluation at our Overland Park office.
Should I start physical therapy right after my procedure, or wait?
Dr. Jafri will let you know when it’s the right time to start. Some patients begin light PT within a week or two, once the injury has had a chance to settle; others need more healing time first. It depends on what was treated and how you’re responding.
How soon can I resume normal activity afterward?
Recovery time varies depending on the procedure performed and your individual healing response. Dr. Jafri will provide activity guidelines based on your treatment plan.
